You have to wait until about 1750 until you get them. Howitzers are amazing for dealing with forts. Not much to say on cannons, but use sharpnel when you get it. When a regiment of 120 men almost completely get's blown up, they get pretty scared. Four thousand men in two armies can blitz in most situations.Ĭannons, these are shock value mostly. If you don't want to fight every battle in Europe, just put together a solid two armies of these and march on everything together.

Except these ones are very professional and will be essentially your core fighting unit. Line infantry, like in Shogun 2 the musket armed troops. They have too little numbers to actually do bulk fighting and are pretty true to their name, great for dealing with generals if you need a quick way to pick off their calv general but yeah. Skirmishers are useless for everything except harassment in big battles.
